Andrea Leigh

Andrea Leigh

Vice President of Client Services

Ideoclick

Biography:
Andrea Leigh is the VP of Client Services at Ideoclick, a managed services firm that helps manufacturers set and analyze winning, sustainable strategies on Amazon, overseeing Account Management, Catalog Services, Advisory, and Content.  Prior to joining Ideoclick, she co-founded Leigh & Burdick and AKL Consulting, where she advised brands on their Amazon.com strategy.  She is a 10-year former senior executive at Amazon in their retail business, where she led over 15 product categories, worked on the launch of Amazon's automated pricing system and CRaP programs, and ran the Amazon Prime program for Amazon.ca, working with over 10K manufacturers and hiring hundreds of Amazon employees.  She is a regular speaker at conferences, gives trainings on working with Amazon, and writes on various topics related to Ecommerce.  When she’s not living and breathing Amazon, she spends her time playing the piano and keeping up with her three elementary-schoolers.

What is the current state of eCommerce? What trends are you seeing?
I guess I would say “dynamic”.  Certainly, the landscape on Amazon is changing, with an increased focus on profit, more shift to the third-party platform (both in Amazon’s focus and also in our clients’ businesses), and some major shake-ups in the grocery space (AmazonGo technology, Whole Foods, grocery pick-up.) Marketplaces outside of Amazon are also becoming increasingly important for brands to get “right”, as they grow into larger percentages of brands’ e-commerce businesses.  Many brands are now facing the issue of other e-tailers demanding whatever precedents brands have set with Amazon (assortment, funding models, etc.)  Manufacturer direct to consumer is becoming a more sophisticated business, with the 3PL space heating up and brands developing their own capabilities (a critical diversification away from the main players).  Lastly, it’s not enough to be platform-savvy anymore.  It’s difficult to see success only nailing the basics (assortment, pricing, availability) – brands must now also have sophisticated, on-site (and expensive) marketing running to continue their growth and stay competitive.

Where do you see the biggest opportunity within Amazon?
There are big gaps that brands can fill and see huge success. Products designed for e-commerce economics are a big opportunity, especially in categories that aren’t traditionally economically sustainable (think dog food and coconut water, or items with low selling prices, like mass beauty lipstick).  These categories are ripe for disruption.  Fashion is an enormous category and is still so under-developed on Amazon, especially as it relates to Amazon Search Optimized (ASO) content and understanding how customers search for fashion.

Why should someone attend the eCommerce Accelerator Summit?
I am truly in awe of this smart, forward-thinking group of experts leading the sessions – all of my industry peers and friends – and I think brands would be hard-pressed to find a better representation of depth of expertise and strategic insights!  The learnings will be incredible.

Spencer Millerberg

Prior to One Click Retail, Spencer had spent 15+ years at Fortune 500 companies in brick-and-mortar retail (Walmart), e-commerce (Amazon), consumer goods (Black & Decker), and more. At Amazon, Spencer led the Health & Personal Care buying team and was core to programs including Subscribe & Save, Amazon Mom, and Prime Pantry. At Walmart, Spencer worked in Marketing and Private brand – including launching the “Marketside” brand, now Walmart’s 3rd largest private brand (second to Great Value and Equate) with over $1.6 B / year in sales. Spencer holds a BA (International Finance - 2002) and MBA (Marketing - 2006) from BYU.

What is the current state of eCommerce? What trends are you seeing?
Search:  Customers still have huge room to optimize both organic and paid search. This is the new shelf space and the place where customers start their search. Very few manufactures have make the structural changes needed to get the results they need

  1. Move beyond the Amazon 101 that is so prevalent at the majority of conferences.
  2. You’ll have the best minds in eCommerce to learn from, both manufacturer peers and agency experts

Mark White

Mark White

Co-Founder and President

content26

Biography:
Mark White is the president of content26, a Seattle-based agency that develops the Amazon advertising and content strategies of many of the world’s most recognizable brands. Content26 product pages can be found on Amazon, Walmart, and other leading online marketplaces. Mark has over 15 years of experience in online content development and management. As a founding partner of content26, he has been responsible for the company’s strategic partnerships and has overseen the development of services and processes since the company’s inception. He has spoken widely at industry events and is an advisory board member with the University of Washington Center for Sales and Marketing Strategy. Mark lives in the Seattle area with his family.

What is the current state of eCommerce? What trends are you seeing?
Thanks to AMS and Amazon’s ubiquity in the consumer’s path to purchase, the “marketplace” (basically, Amazon) has become the third pillar of performance marketing, joining search and social.  The lines between eCommerce and Commerce continue to fade. eCommerce is now becoming as much a marketing opportunity for brands as it is a sales opportunity.

Where do you see the biggest opportunity within Amazon?
AMS gives smart brands a cost-effective and strategic tool to either disrupt or protect market share, depending on their position in the market. AMS can drive brand awareness as well as increase sales at a fraction of the costs of the other, established performance marketing options, such as Google or Facebook.

Why should someone attend the eCommerce Accelerator Summit?
You’ll be surrounded by hundreds of years of combined, data-driven eCommerce expertise. We’ve seen and done it all, and will be here to help guide your next eCommerce steps.
